Video: Artist Wangechi Mutu + Santigold Interview About Video Collaboration

Check out this video interview with singer songwriter Santigold and artist Wangechi Mutu. Both women discuss their video collaboration titled, The End of Eating Everything, an 8-minute film currently on view as part of Mutu’s solo show at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University.

Wangechi Mutu: A Fantastic Journey will travel to the Brooklyn Museum of Art in September 2013, the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami in April 2014 and the Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art at Northwestern University in September 2014.

I just love how during this video interview you see Wangechi breastfeeding her young baby. I can only imagine the cameraman/woman asking if she wanted to stop taping the interview until she was done breastfeeding and Wangechi saying no, let’s just do this. Art doesn’t have to stop for motherhood, and vice versa. You can read Wangechi Mutu’s Q&A in the book I co-edited, How We Do Both: Art and Motherhood. Limited copies of the first edition are available now via Secretary Press.
