New Books by Alejandro Cartagena and Sheila Pree Bright

Congratulations to photographer Alejandro Cartagena, chosen as one of photolucida’s 2009 Critical Mass Book Award winners. Photolucida will co-publish Alejandro’s book with Daylight Books.
A native of the Dominican Republic now living and working in Mexico City, Alejandro’s documentary-based work explores “landscape as well as portraiture as a way to examine social, urban and environmental issues of Latin America.”

Mixed media artist and photographer Sheila Pree Bright wrote me today to announce the debut of her new book: Suburbia, the works of which will be seen in Road to Nowhere, a group show at the Fotofest Biennial 2010 held in Houston, TX this March. Stay up on Sheila’s work by reading her blog
