Two-Day Symposium at Tate Modern (UK)
November 6 – 7, 2015
This two-day conference explores the complex and dynamic evolution of the history of women in photography, from early commercial practices, to the impact of World War II on women and their work, to reframing the role of the archive.
On day two of the conference (November 7th) in Session Five, I will be presenting the work of seven women photographers (like Orianne Lopes‘ above), some of whom I’ve come to know through their interviews here on Dodge & Burn. My presentation is titled I’ve Come to Take You Home: Photography and Black, Female Performance. If you happen to be in London that day, please join me at the conference!
Leading up to the conference, during the week of September 21st I will be sharing my own photography work in a takeover of the @womeninphoto Instagram account.
For more info, check the conference program and get tickets via the Tate Modern website.
