Photography Jobs: 2 Teaching Positions at Rochester Institue of Technology (RIT)

Position #1
The School of Photographic Arts and Sciences invites applicants to apply for a tenure track, Assistant Professor or non-tenure Professional Lecturer position in its Bachelor of Fine Art, Advertising program. This position begins fall 2010.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to introductory and upper level courses at the undergraduate level. Based on the demands of these areas, ideal candidates will possess the ability to provide intellectual leadership and vision in the continued interdisciplinary vibrancy of the School’s multiple programs, their students and curriculum.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BFA in photography, digital photography for a non-tenure track, professional lecturer rank*
  • Minimum of five years experience in assignment photography with a substantial record of professional accomplishment.
  • Thorough professional knowledge and experience of studio and location lighting.
  • Demonstrable professional skills and expertise in concept and execution of photographic illustration.
  • Professional expertise and experience with digital workflow from capture to output.
  • Candidates must have an exceptionally strong, demonstrated conceptual, historical and practical understanding of their field, as well as its relation to other areas of photographic study taught in the School.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of teaching experience
  • Professional competency with digital compositing and retouching techniques
  • Expertise in video capture and editing
  • Professional experience with computer graphic software program

The School of Photographic Arts and Sciences invites applicants to apply for a tenure track Assistant Professor or non-tenure Professional Lecturer position in its Bachelor of Fine Art, Photojournalism program.This position begins fall 2010. This position is subject to available funding.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BFA in photography, digital photography for a non-tenure track, professional lecturer rank *
  • Minimum of five years professional experience in photojournalism/visual journalism with substantial record of professional accomplishment and distinction.
  • Professional expertise and experience visual storytelling and picture editing.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in studio and location lighting.
  • Demonstrable professional experience and skills in audio and video capture and editing, and web-based visual journalism.
  • Candidates must have an exceptionally strong, demonstrated conceptual, historical and practical understanding of their field, as well as its relation to other areas of photographic study taught in the School.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum three to five years of teaching experience

*An MFA in photography, digital photography or equivalent professional experience with distinction required for tenure track appointment.
