Still from The Retrieval
A Film by Chris Eska

The 9th Montreal International Black Film Festival, presented by Global Montreal, will run from September 18 to 29, 2013 in Montreal: 12 days of sharing, interculturalism and entertainment during which we will be presenting the best and the most amazing new films in the world of Black cinema. A fresh, new look at black cinema from the four corners of the globe.

Last year’s edition of the Festival screened over 100 films from 40 countries and paid tribute to legendary singer, actor and activist Harry Belafonte and keynote speaker and best-selling author Stedman Graham.

Registration is already open for films of any genre and any length: feature, medium-length and short films (fiction, documentary, animation…). The registration form, pre-selection conditions, and rules & regulations are available on the Festival’s website until the June 15, 2013.

The MIBFF will also be holding a short film contest open to beginners and professionals alike. Details are available on the Festival website.

The jury responsible for selecting the winners will include people of many different nationalities, none of whom are involved in the organization of the Festival. SUBMIT your film today!
